ACES VISIT NEW BATAAN DEC 16 2012

Typhoon Pablo created so much misery to the people affected by the onslaught of nature. It has also built and opened avenues of cleansing the spirit and broadening the links of friendship among communities and peoples of the world.

ACES  visited the affected areas in New Bataan, bringing food and water as its contribution to the effort of alleviating the hunger suffered by the victims of Typhoon "Pablo". A major part of the visit focused on looking into possibilities of helping in the development efforts by mid  2013 when the people in the community shall have shelter. As of this writing , food in the form of rice, sardines and noodles are provided for from government, non-government and religious organizations.

It is planned by Dr. Francisco de la Pena, Jr. President / CEO of ACES that an ACES Natural  Farming Institute Extension Unit be set-up as soon as possible for it to contribute in the provision of healthy food to the community. Discussions with the Provincial Director of TESDA, Compostela Valley,  Dr. Remegias Timonio, Provincial Director of  Davao del Norte , Dr. Urbano Budtan, and Provincial Director of  Davao Oriental , Engr. Isidro Montilla together with Dr. Silvano B. Maranga, Project Director and Gen Mgr Vianney Garol ACES, are underway to implement a coordinated effort to conduct a training  program on Natural Farming Technology.

The pictures and video speak for themselves on how Barangay Andap of New Bataan was totally swept with rocks and water. In its place is wide river of rocks from the mountain to the valley. There are rocks as large as a car. One can just wonder the force of the water that carried these rocks to where it is now located. The pictures were shot from a cell phone camera with 5 pixels . A zoom view can reveal some details of the chapel where many were saved when a cement block diverted the water flow  harmlessly.

these rocks are about 24 inches long  and looks like it is of volcanic origin
The mountains in the background indicate a pathway for the rock and water flow.

Between these two houses is a vehicle trapped in the debris. In this area decayed flesh is still felt and smelled.
This is the ruins of a chapel which sheltered about 50 persons. Water flow was diverted to the side when the big block of cement barred the water from entering the chapel ans saved the faithful.
Son and daughter of Dr. de la Pena, Jr. Ken and Lady Thacher, both professionals in computer and education, respectively are involved in the planning for a development program for New Bataan
Loads of food and water are brought in by different organizations to help alleviate the pain of loss and hunger among the residents in Andap, New Bataan
Take note of the sizes of the stones. Some could be as heavy as two tons.
