ACES TESDA TWSP September 3-18, 2012
The Training for Work Scholarship (TWSP) of TESDA provided 200 training slots for ACES Natural Farming Technology Course for Cy 2012. This course, with TESDA Registration Certificate Number NTR Sn 00043, became the first TESDA registered program on Natural /Organic Farming and focuses on the development of a healthy community and individuals fully aware of the health benefits of organically – naturally grown vegetables, hogs, chicken and bangus fish.
Participants to the TWSP belong to age range from 18 years old and above. It is important to note that at ACES Polytechnic College and the ACES Natural Farming Institute, economic status of trainees varies from very poor, including Indigenous Peoples, Rich businessmen, Local Officials, Mayors and Provincial Board members, officers of Department of Agriculture, technicians and TESDA officers.
Military officers and those belonging to progressive groups of NGOs working with the peasants have participated in the ACES Natural Farming Technology Course level 1 with a common goal, help the community raise and produce healthy food through natural and organic methods of farming.
The participants are introduced to the philosophy of peace, economic growth, production of healthy food and healthy lifestyle.
In Panabo City, Mayor Jose L. Silvosa, Sr.and the City Agriculturist, encouraged the Barangay officials to send participants to the program through a support on animal dispersal and technical follow-up and assistance with the officers of the ACES Natural Farming Institute.
It is important to note that this coincides with the National Chairmanship of Dr. Francisco P. dela Peña, Jr., President of ACES Polytechnic College, of the newly organized Farm Tourism Organization composed of big businesses in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. This is supported by JICA, Department of Agriculture and Department of Tourism.
The competency-based course run for 15 days, 3 days, 5 days or 8 days and divided in three phases. 1. Lecture- demonstration 2. Experiential learning in the ACES farming Institute 3. Set-up of participants / group Model farm. These three phases shall be the basis for the performance of the graduates, with the end in view to create an economic enterprise in Panabo City based on organic farm products.
The graduates of TWSP shall be the forerunners in the thrust of ACES Polytechnic College and the ACES Natural Farming Institute in the pursuit of the vision of making Panabo City the Organic City of the Philipines.
Dr. Silvano B. Maranga and GM Vianney Garol continue to conduct project monitoring and consultancy program to the graduates of the ACES-TWSP-TESDA and support the employment endeavors of the graduates.
