NATURAL FARMING
- IT CAN BE DEFINED AS ONE OR MORE SYSTEMS OF PRODUCTION WHICH DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC FERTILIZERS, MAN MADE PESTICIDES, HERBICIDES, GROWTH REGULATORS, ANTIBIOTICS, HORMONE STIMULANTS AND / OR LIVESTOCK FEED ADDITIVES TO GROW CROPS AND RAISE ANIMALS
- Natural Farming has become a global goal to help clean the environment and provide safe agricultural products get to the dinner table. It is particularly important in view of the increase in insecticide-related diseases
- It is not a new trend but a system long existed but was neglected due to the advent of commercial fertilizer.
- In this presentation, we have to center natural farming as the point of discussion because organic products have several restrictions and still debatable.
- Natural farming in and of itself differs greatly from conventional farming in a number of ways. Virtually all Natural Farmers who grow crops prefer to use renewable resources and recycling to return, what most conventional farmers would consider waste, back to the soil as Mother Nature intended.
- By using natural foodstuffs and having a particular concern for animal welfare, Natural Farmers use the environment’s own systems to produce healthy livestock and return waste back into the soil.
- ACES Polytechnic College in Partnership with the Alliance of Concerned Entrepreneurs for Food Security (ACE-FS) established last year the Natural Farming Institute located in Peda, San Francisco, Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
VISION
The Natural Farming Institute envisions to train farmers and community leaders who are advocates of sustainable farming, who can maximize productivity and ensure environmental protection. It shall provide livelihood for those who desire to produce healthy food for the people who will compose healthy communities; that create a populace who enjoys healthy lifestyle, concerns for nature and appreciates God’s creation.
MISSION
The Institute shall endeavor to provide experiential learning to the trainees after they are taught the basic and advance techniques in natural farming.
It shall strive to inculcate into the mind and heart of every trainee the value of preserving the environment and the production of healthy food free of chemicals or other synthetic elements that will affect the health of mankind.
It shall soften if not remove the human tendency of greed in pricing healthy foods so that the poor can afford these commodities.
It shall expand the advocacy and provide access to quality training programs, financial institutions, research and development, and market of naturally farmed products.
